Announcing our 2022 Arctic Convoys Writing Competition Winners

Thank you to everyone who entered our recent Artic Convoys Writing Competition. We received 65 entrants and were amazed by the quality, creativity and knowledge of all who entered.
The judges met this week and after a couple of hours deliberating finally decided the following winners – Congratulations to all.
First Place
The Arctic Graveyard by James Friel
Second Place
What he was seeing by Joanna Clark
Third Place
The Still by Christine Ashton
Competition judge, Paige Halliday, project manager at Western Approaches, Arctic Convoys display and public programme said: “We were amazed with how many entrees we got for the competition, and we found it difficult to narrow it down to only three winners. It was wonderful to see so many people become interested in this sorely neglected area of history.”
“The competition is part of the ‘Arctic Convoys: A Shared History’ programme produced in partnership with the Culture and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow and the Northern Maritime Museum in Arkhangelsk.”
