Western Approaches to offer FREE entry to Armed Forces and Veterans to celebrate Armed Forces Day
Western Approaches to offer FREE entry to Armed Forces and Veterans to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
The Secret War Bunker was home to over 300 military personnel during the war.
On 29th June, Western Approaches HQ in Liverpool will be offering FREE entry to all reservists, service personnel and veterans to celebrate Armed Forces Day, the annual national campaign to support the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present.
The Western Approaches offer mirrors many more events taking place across the country, enabling people to come out and show their support to UK forces personnel.
Dean Paton CEO of The Big Heritage which manages Western Approaches said: “We are really pleased to be taking part in this national event. The men and women of Western Approaches played a central role in the defeat of Nazi Germany, so we wanted to make this gesture to both retired military, and those currently in service, working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers and providing security for the UK.”
The Western Approaches site has seen a resurgence in popularity since being taken over by non-profit organisation Big Heritage in 2017, with several events organised in partnership with both the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, both of which were headquartered in the sprawling bunker complex during the war.
To gain free entry, the relevant ID must be presented upon arrival. Veterans should bring along their British Veterans Recognition Card.
